- The RIVM reported 7,142 new corona infections on Wednesday. That is 743 more than on Tuesday. The number of patients in hospitals shows a slight decrease.
- The first corona vaccination has been carried out in the Netherlands. Healthcare worker Sanna Elkadiri was the first to receive the vaccine NOS reports.
- The European medicines authority EMA has approval given to the corona vaccine from the American biotech company Moderna. The EU has purchased 160 million doses of the vaccine, including 6.2 million for the Netherlands.
- The number of companies closing down decreased by 11 percent in December last year, while the number of starting companies grew by 19 percent. The Chamber of Commerce reports this in its latest Business Trend Report. According to the Chamber of Commerce, this is a break in the trend.
- Payment arrears among self-employed people and SME entrepreneurs are increasing so quickly that tens of thousands are at risk of ending up in debt assistance. That confirms the trade association for debt assistance NVVK on radio station BNR. The NVVK estimates that approximately 65,000 entrepreneurs will apply for a debt settlement when the support packages expire on July 1.
