Brief economic corona news from January 7

- The RIVM reported 9,737 corona infections on Thursday. That is 2609 more than yesterday. Occupancy in hospitals decreased slightly again.
- A majority in the House of Representatives has supported the emergency law that requires a negative PCR test for travelers traveling to the Netherlands from corona risk areas. Minister De Jonge had therefore asked, writes the FD. The test must not be older than 72 hours.
- Moderna's corona vaccine probably provides protection for a few years. That said CEO Stéphane Bancel during a press conference. The CEO of Moderna also thinks that the vaccine will soon be proven to work against mutated and more contagious coronaviruses.
- It Mortgage Data Network reports that a record number of 535,375 mortgage applications were made in 2020. That is a quarter more than in 2019.
