- The RIVM reported 3416 new corona infections on Wednesday, 703 more than Tuesday but below the weekly average of 3628 people. Hospital occupancy decreased.
- The cabinet has decided to invest 8.5 billion euros in a National Education Program. This multi-year support package should help to eliminate the corona backlog in education, says the central government.
- The European Commission has placed an order for 200 million additional doses of the Pfizer and BioNTech coronavirus vaccine. The vaccine is the mainstay of the Dutch vaccine policy with delivery agreements for 20 million doses so far. According to BioNTech production capacity is being rapidly expanded.
- A collective tax debt of 13.2 billion euros could cost thousands of companies their heads if the debts to the tax authorities have to be repaid. This is the warning from 122 leading insolvency experts in the Special Management Barometer. According to the FD many companies do not have sufficient earning capacity to repay their debts within 36 months.
- The CBS reports based on own research that between July 2019 and July 2020, approximately 22 percent of all SMEs needed new external financing. Four out of five companies that submitted an application were (partially) awarded the financing. For 17 percent, the financing was needed to bridge the difficult period of the corona crisis.
