More investment in research and innovation needed
The Knowledge Coalition – a partnership of parties in the Dutch research and innovation field – has entered into a call into politics. They call for an increase in the number of investments in research and innovation.
Entrepreneurs and scientists propose that the government should steadily increase investments in research and innovation from 300 to 380 million euros over the next ten years. reported FHI on a call from the Central Planning Bureau to the government to spend more on innovative tenders and competitions. This is to create a promising innovation policy.
The call for this stable growth path is crucial to remain a leader in Europe as a competitive knowledge economy, according to the Knowledge Coalition. With these investments, the Netherlands will be at an investment level of three percent of GDP in 2030. This will bring the Netherlands to the same level as Germany, for example.
