Less than 20 percent of companies comply with the energy saving information obligation on time
Less than 20 percent of the 125,000 companies that are required to report on the energy-saving measures they have taken have actually done so before the deadline of July 1, 2019. Companies that have not yet reported can be reminded and penalties may ultimately be imposed.
A total of 22,407 business locations have indicated to the RVO which energy-saving measures they have taken. According to the RVO there are still several thousand draft reports ready to be submitted. Companies that have not yet submitted a report can still do so via Wattmoetjeweten.nl.
Companies are obliged by the Energy Saving Information Obligation to report via the RVO's digital counter. The Information Obligation applies to companies and institutions that consume 50,000 kWh of electricity or 25,000 m³ of natural gas per year. It is part of the Environmental Management Act. The information obligation has been developed by the government, the business community (MKB-Nederland and VNO-NCW) and municipalities (VNG).
The Information Obligation applies to energy-saving measures with a payback period of five years. According to the RVO, insulation of buildings, LED lighting and the application of energy management systems are the most commonly taken measures.
