PLOT September 2021 – From the chairman…

Dear PLOT members,

Another newsletter from the board and the working groups. I hope you had a nice holiday and are in good health. From the PLOT we had a nice 'holiday day' at the Rail center in Amersfoort. Melvin and I went there to check out the location for it 25th anniversary and that made us very enthusiastic.

We became even more enthusiastic about the first physical board meeting we were able to hold in September. Of course, with the necessary distance and without shaking hands, but the consultation was so much more practical and pleasant than via Teams.

We are even more looking forward to meeting you at the anniversary conference at Railcenter in Amersfoort. It would be great - of course with appropriate measures - to listen to presentations together again, eat a pastry, even have lunch and dinner together. But above all, visit the exhibitors together. You, but also they, have not neglected the PLOT in the past period and are making this conference possible again.

We will have a working group meeting of the Climate Working Group in October and the other working groups are also preparing for physical meetings. With the depth achieved in our working groups, it is almost impossible to do this via Teams or other media. The samples and debris must simply be on the table and everyone must have had them in their hands.

However, virtual will remain in our lives, such as the newsletter and lunch sessions. The success of the lunch sessions is so great that we will continue to organize them in the (near) future. So we are entering a bright future with physical meetings as you are used to, with a supplement of virtual meetings.
