Practical approaches in daily work with EMI
Any modular electronic device, from a complete aircraft to a mobile phone, must meet EMC requirements for the complete device, even if all individual modules meet the requirements. The vast range of modular device types require EMC testing.
An emissions test measures the amount of electromagnetic noise produced by a device during normal use. The purpose of these tests is to ensure that the emissions from the device are below the established limits of the device. This provides reasonable assurance that the device will not cause harmful interference to other devices operating within its operating area.
Capturing the clock frequency signal from a processor is an easy task. Evaluating interferences with a pulsed or transient character is much more challenging.
