Even before the corona crisis took full control of the Dutch and global economy, FHI conducted market research among five sectors in the first quarter via the Economic Barometer.

The questionnaires show, among other things, that companies in particular in the sectors Industrial automation and Industrial Electronics optimism prevailed. Companies active in the sectors Laboratory Technology, Medical Technology and Building Automation are on average slightly less positive.

Although most companies achieve their turnover mainly within the Benelux, countries outside the Netherlands also play an important role. Companies within the Industrial Electronics sector achieve as much as 43 percent of their turnover outside the Benelux, compared to 'only' 23 percent of companies that fall within the Medical Technology sector.
