TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) reports that the TDK-Lambda CCG series DC-DC converters has been expanded with 6 W and 10 W models. These are suitable for through-hole or surface mounting. The CCG series covers the range from 1.5 W to 30 W. In addition to battery-powered equipment, applications include process control, data communication, telecommunications, and test and measurement-related products.

The CCG6 (6 W) and CCG10 (10 W) series are available with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, ±12, or ±15 V. The dual-output versions can be configured to a single 24 or 30 V output. All combinations of output voltage and power can be supplied from a 4.5 to 18 V, 9 to 36 V, or 18 to 76 VDC input. This brings the CCG product family to 36 additional models with combinations of specific output voltage and current.

The nominal output voltage of the single-output models can be adjusted via the trimmer terminal from -5% to +10% for non-standard conditions or to compensate for voltage drops. All models are protected against overcurrent and have an input and output isolation voltage of 1500 VDC. The remote on/off function can be used to switch off the output or put the DC-DC converters into standby mode, reducing input power consumption to typically <0.1 W. This benefits battery life when used in portable equipment.

The CCG6 and CCG10 both have a footprint of 19 mm x 12.4 mm (length x width) and a height of 11.5 mm for the through-hole versions and 11.8 mm for the SDM components. The components are not encapsulated in the plastic housing, thus avoiding the quality risks associated with molded silicone components during reflow soldering. The highly automated production line uses X-ray inspection of the solder joints, increasing reliability.

The operating temperature range for the CCG6 is from -40°C to +95°C, and for the CCG10 from -40°C to +90°C when using convection or forced-air cooling. The converters are safety certified to IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1, with CE and UKCA markings in accordance with the Low Voltage and RoHS directives.
