Specially for compressor engines: Self-adjusting soft starter from IC-Electronic
For controlling motors that drive a compressor, IC-Electronic has developed the SCL SUPERIOR series developed.
These 1- and 3-phase controlled soft starters are designed for controlling compressors, heat pumps, air conditioning or dehumidifiers. The starters have a current and voltage controlled starting and have an internal bypass function, making the purchase of an external bypass relay unnecessary.
The SLC has a current-controlled ramp-up and by-pass function, where the start-up voltage is regulated to compensate for a lack of starting torque. The soft starter sets itself fully automatically to achieve optimal start-up. To protect the semiconductors against possible overheating, the starter has a pause mode. When a fault is detected, the soft starter will stop in a controlled manner and enter service mode. Additionally, over- and undercurrent are detected, as well as incorrect phase sequence and wiring errors. The nature of the fault is indicated by the integrated LED indication. The operational status of the soft starter is also reported by 2 relays, so it does not go unnoticed and costly damage to your installation can be prevented.
Advantages:
Current reduction up to 65%, extending the mechanical life of the compressor. Voltage dips and light flickers in your installation can be excluded by the current limitation. RMS current measurement for optimal current control. Easy and quick to wire using spring clamps. Automatic setting for the most optimal start, resulting in marginal setting time. Built-in by-pass function and motor protection (I2t measurement, using the class 10 trip curve), saving you purchase and wiring costs.
