Start SME route in HBO: opportunity for companies and students
This month, the new 'SME route in higher professional education' will be launched, in which students will be given the opportunity to learn and work in an SME company during their studies. The programme is thus in line with the demand from practice. This month, seven pilot collaborations between universities of applied sciences and SMEs will be launched.
This 'working learning' principle and associated trajectory is set up by the ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) and Education, Culture and Science (OCW) together with MKB-Nederland. This program falls under the broader SME action plan of State Secretary Mona Keijzer of EZK, where the aim is to better align education and the labor market.
Both companies and students benefit from this new route. The company acquires new knowledge and expertise, while also offering training for students. This also gives the latter group a better job prospect by gaining practical experience.
In this process, the development question of the company is central, which means that the largest part of the learning will also take place in the company itself. Want to know more about this route? Look further on the website of the National government.
