The Second Chamber elections will take place on 17 March 2021. At the moment there is still a shortage of polling stations due to the corona crisis. This is because many locations are no longer suitable due to the current corona measures. Many municipalities therefore have to look for new and additional polling stations.

The Ministry of the Interior has called in the help of MKB-Nederland, VNO-NCW and industry organisations for this. This not only concerns locations, but also new members for polling stations. Due to the measures, a minimum of four members are now required instead of three. Many regular members are also dropping out because they are in the risk group.

Would you like to help or assist as a company or person? The Electoral Act sets specific requirements for polling stations. These include accessibility and accessibility. A location is very likely suitable if it meets the following conditions and is available on 16, 17 and 18 March:

• it is spacious enough to allow voters and polling station staff to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from each other. Space preferably 100 m2 (in connection with counting votes) but from 80 m2 it can also be suitable;
• it has a separate entrance and exit or an entrance and exit that is spacious enough to pass each other at a distance of 1.5 meters;
• which is also easily accessible for voters with a physical disability;
• there is sufficient space outside and/or inside for demarcated queues;
• the polling station is preferably located on the ground floor;
• the ventilation system complies with the Building Decree or ventilation is possible by leaving windows ajar or via grilles above the windows.
