Did you know that as a producer, supplier and importer of laboratory equipment you are obliged to recycle the equipment you put on the market? For the year 2019 it has been determined that a producer/importer must ensure that at least 65% of the equipment he puts on the market is collected and processed on his behalf. Stichting RTA helps you with these legal obligations.

What is the RTA Foundation?
The Recycling Technological Equipment Foundation (RTA) was established at the initiative of FHI, the federation of technology industries. RTA Foundation is an organisation that, on behalf of producers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment, implements the legal obligations of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation as efficiently and effectively as possible. Stichting RTA takes a lot of work off the hands of its participants, has no profit motive, ensures that the costs of its participants are as low as possible and considers good service to be of paramount importance.

What are the legal obligations?
Are you a producer or importer of electrical and electronic equipment? Then you must register with the National (W)EEE Register and state which and how many electrical and electronic equipment you are placing on the market in the Netherlands. Another obligation is that producers/importers have a system to collect and process products at their own expense. You must report the quantities and composition of the collected waste equipment to the National (W)EEE Register. For the year 2019, it has been determined that a producer/importer must ensure that at least 65% of the equipment placed on the market by him is collected and processed on his behalf. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate can check whether you meet your obligations.

How can the RTA Foundation help you?
Stichting RTA takes care of the registration of the participants and the submissions to the National (W)EEE Register. Participants submit their declarations via the user-friendly website of the equipment they have brought into the Dutch market. Through the collection system Simpel Weg we make it very easy for participants to get rid of discarded electrical and electronic equipment. Participants of Stichting RTA and their customers can have equipment collected free of charge. Stichting RTA is also a source of information when it comes to, for example, regulations and advocacy at national and European level. At the moment, on behalf of our participants, we are busy trying to achieve the legal collection percentage of 65%.

Who is the RTA Foundation for?
We are there for all manufacturers and importers of professional (B2B) electrical (electronic) equipment. Among the participating companies are many members of the five FHI branches: Industrial Electronics, Building Automation, Industrial Automation, Laboratory Technology and Medical Technology. FHI members do not pay an annual membership fee.
