With 34 exhibitors and over 170 visitors, it was finally possible to organize a new LabAutomation after an earlier postponement. In the Congrescentrum 1931 in Den Bosch, the latest developments in automation in the lab were discussed again.

The opening of LabAutomation 2022 was for Linda Dijkhoorn, CEO of EV Biotech. In her keynote she spoke about developments in biotech and how EV Biotech responds to them. With the help of enormous amounts of data, resulting from strain development and digital modulation, smart models can then be created.

The lecture program that followed covered two main themes: hardware and software. Bas Trietsch of Mimetas provided insight into an organ-on-a-chip platform with a high throughput speed. This allows, among other things, medicines against vascular diseases and immune system disorders to be efficiently researched.

While Johan Hoekstra from Nouryon explained how an iLES system was implemented in his company, Jolanda Braakman explained how Eurol's lab department seeks collaboration with other parts of the company.

Fearghal Jones, Territory Sales Manager at Brady Corporation, spoke about the benefits of RFID technology in the lab (FHI spoke to him earlier), while Farid Boutiba, on behalf of the Digital Trust Center, once again emphasized how important cyber resilience is in these times of far-reaching digitalization.

Another theme that plays a role in the lab and healthcare world is sustainability. Mariska van Soest provided insight into how the UMC Utrecht is trying to take green steps. Van Soest already gave an earlier interview about this insight into.

The closing event of this sunny edition of LabAutomation was hosted by Marcel Braam (SGS). He talked about a case in which process optimization was implemented in a smart way by training lab technicians.

Next year the Laboratory Technology sector hopes to welcome back a new edition of LabAutomation. And of course, note the World of Technology & Science in your diary: from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 September the Jaarbeurs will be in Utrecht.
