In modern electronic applications—especially in safety-critical environments such as ATEX-certified areas—requirements for miniaturization, precision, and thermal resistance are constantly increasing. The new USL 0603 low-current fuse was specifically developed to meet these requirements.

A notable feature of the USL 0603 is its increased pad-to-pad clearance of 1.1 mm. This means the fuse meets the requirements of IEC 60079-11 for 60 VDC applications where a minimum clearance of 1 mm is required. This makes it one of the few 0603-sized fuses that can be used without hesitation in ATEX applications – for example, in the oil and gas industry, chemical processing, or mining.

Fast acting characteristic
Thanks to its fast tripping time (tripping at 2.5 times the rated current in less than 5 seconds), the USL 0603 provides precise protection for sensitive circuits. At the same time, the low voltage drop ensures minimal energy loss – an advantage that pays off not only in ATEX applications but also in battery-powered designs.

Wide working range
With an extended operating temperature range up to 150°C, the fuse is ideally suited for demanding thermal environments – from mobile medical diagnostic devices to industrial sensor applications.

Typical applications
Ideal applications for the USL 0603 include ATEX-certified systems where potential ignition sources must be prevented through reliable current limitation. The chip fuse is also ideal for medical devices, where precise tripping times and low power dissipation are crucial. There are also sensor applications in industry and consumer electronics, which are particularly sensitive to overcurrent.
