Vaisala launches the Vaisala DRYCAP® Dew Point Transmitter DMT153.
The DMT153 is made for ultra-dry industrial processes. In these processes, even tiny amounts of moisture can cause problems. For example, moisture can affect product quality, safety, yield, or process stability.
The DMT153 measures down to -80 °C dew point. It also responds quickly. As a result, users can see moisture changes early.
The DMT153 replaces the DMT152. It adds modern connections, faster response, and easier setup. At the same time, it keeps the trusted DRYCAP® sensor and algorithm. Therefore, current users can move to the new device with less additional testing.
Why ultra-dry measurement matters
Ultra-dry air has very little water vapor. However, even a small amount of moisture can cause harm.
For example, it can cause chemical reactions. It can also cause corrosion or defects.
This matters in many critical industries. These include battery making, chip production, and high-purity gas systems.
The DMT153 gives users reliable moisture data. Therefore, they can find problems earlier. They can also react faster and keep production stable.
Built for critical industries
The DMT153 is made for processes with very low dew points. In these settings, even small moisture changes can lead to defects or scrap.
Typical uses include:
- Battery dry rooms and dry booths
- Semiconductor cleanrooms and process tools
- Specialty gas lines
- High-end compressed air systems
- Electronics, pharmaceutical, and precision manufacturing
- Glove boxes, compact dryers, and test chambers
- Pure gas production, distribution, and use
Fast response at very low dew points
The DMT153 reacts in minutes. By contrast, many traditional sensors can take hours or even days.
Because of this fast response, users can see moisture changes early. They can also set tighter alarm limits. As a result, they can recover faster when conditions change.
This helps lower the risk of defects, scrap, and unexpected process issues.
Easy to connect and use
The DMT153 is easy to connect to modern systems.
For example, it works with Vaisala Indigo products, including the Indigo80 handheld indicator. This helps users do on-site checks, diagnostics, and setup.
The transmitter also supports Modbus RTU over RS485. Therefore, users can connect it to PLC and DCS systems.
In addition, users can combine the DMT153 with Vaisala Indigo500, Indigo300, or Indigo200 transmitters. This gives more options, such as several analog outputs and a local display.
Stable performance with less maintenance
The DMT153 is built for long-term stability. It can handle demanding conditions. For example, it can handle occasional condensation and wet exposure.
It also recovers quickly. Therefore, users can avoid the drift and failures often seen with many metal oxide sensors.
Because of this strong design, users face fewer surprises. They also need fewer unplanned service visits. As a result, operation becomes more predictable.
Auto calibration and chemical purge
The DMT153 includes auto-calibration and chemical purge functions.
These features help in processes with moderate chemical contamination. However, users should always check if the device suits the chemicals in their own process.
Auto-calibration helps correct measurement drift. As a result, the instrument stays on target.
Customers can then trust the moisture data for alarms, controls, and quality decisions.
Portable checks in the field
When paired with Vaisala Indigo80, DMT probes help users check dew point measurements in the field.
For example, users can:
- Check system and process conditions on site
- Avoid external sampling
- Do fast yearly spot checks
- Find the best places for permanent sensors
- Measure dew point down to -80 °C
- Connect two measurements at the same time
- Compare before-and-after results
- Use one compact, battery-powered field kit
- Get DRYCAP® response in minutes
- Use rugged metal probes in tough industrial conditions
Calibration with traceable certificates
Each customer defines how often instruments need calibration.
Vaisala makes the probe. Therefore, Vaisala also offers factory calibration and other lifecycle services for the DMT153.
With factory calibration, customers get a traceable calibration certificate. They can also confirm the instrument's original factory specifications.
