René Boere and Ed van Hal by Pilz Netherlands give up on it Machine building event a lecture with a practical slant. They give machine builders tips for 'smart' (in other words: smart and safe) automation. The theme of safety also appears more often in the program: Gijsbert Heenck and Gerrit Grit, both working at Schmersal Netherlands, focuses on the following question: “Do we keep dangerous movements at bay or do we control dangerous movements?”

The purpose of Pilz Nederland's lecture is to provide machine builders with tools that they can immediately apply in practice. The speakers do this using striking (virtual) examples and solutions for OEM and mechanical engineering. How can different types of systems be used more intelligently and what can this bring to the machine builder?

Safety takes center stage at a mechanical engineering event

Do we keep dangerous movements at bay or do we control the dangerous movements? In the presentation by Gijsbert Heenck and Gerrit Grit, on behalf of Schmersal Netherlands. the following topics are discussed: Safety distances, Approach speeds, Safe Drive Monitoring. Gijsbert Heenck is managing director of Schermsal and also a TÜV Functional safety engineer and member of the NEN platform 60204. Gerrit Grit also works as a TÜV certified CE safety expert.

Also Marco Slotboom from Bernstein is happy to inform engineers about the do's and don'ts in the field of machine safety. During his lecture he explains the basics in this area to visitors. What meaning does a PL (performance level) have for the engineer? He also explains a number of factors that influence the PL value of the installation, according to EN-13849-1:

  • Category: Resistance to errors and behavior in the face of an error
  • Common cause of error: CCF
  • Quality of the individual components: B10d ->MTTFd
  • Diagnosis grade: DC

They inform you about the relationship between these factors and delve deeper into one aspect of the diagnosis rate, namely error masking. What exactly is error masking? During the presentation you can expect a schematic simulation as well as possible solutions.

The sixth edition of the Machine Construction event will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 1931 Congrescentrum in Den Bosch. Register to visit the event. This is completely free (including coffee, lunch and networking drinks) provided you belong to the target group.
