FHI helps increase the findability of our members and exhibitors on the internet. That is why we continuously improve our digital platform. Over the past year we have taken various steps to further improve our services on fhi.nl. In this message we give you an overview of the most important updates and how we can help you make (even) better use of fhi.nl!

What improvements have we made?

  • To start with, since February you can view the current visitor statistics of your profile in the dashboard. This gives you insight into how often people clicked through to the URLs from your profile page.
  • The name and address details are clearer and a button has been added that links directly to your website.
  • The list of products and/or services has been moved to the top, so that it is visible at a glance what your company specializes in.
  • In addition, the search functionality on our platform has been improved. The search function on our websites (federal, industry sites, event and trade fair websites) gives visitors better search results. From now on, searching for all words used in a profile and in news items is possible.
  • You can now use up to 10,000 characters for the description of your company. Previously the limit was 2600 characters.

What else is new(s)?

The options for posting news on fhi.nl have been improved. In addition to a clearer layout for 'posting' news items, additional options have also been added to increase findability. Earlier this year, the option to schedule a news item for a later date was introduced. We have already received many enthusiastic responses from our members and exhibitors. That's why we started looking at how we could make our platform even more user-friendly. An overview of the most important recent improvements:

  • The preview functionality has been added. This preview option shows you the post before it is published.
Please pay attention to this, that you have not yet planned the publication date in advance. The preview only works when you are logged in to fhi.nl. This link is therefore not visible to others.
  • The FHI sites where you can post a message are arranged in a list. You can find these on the right side, as well as the relevant product categories.
  • The 'Featured image' that appears above the article has also been moved to the right.
Tip: The image looks best when it contains no text. Also limit the image size to approximately 500KB.
  • The (SEO) search function optimization has also been added. Previously, only the meta keywords were available. Now this has also been added:
    • The 'Meta Title'. This will appear in the Google preview.
    • The 'Meta Description'. This is a short description, which will also appear in the Google preview.
    • The Meta Keywords'. A maximum of five keywords can be added, separated by a comma. These words 'carry' the news report.
    • The Google preview shows how the message will appear when it appears in the search results.
    • Analysis results: this shows where the message can still be optimized. The green dot indicates what is already good. The orange dot provides insight into what is already partly good, but what could possibly be improved. The red dot indicates where improvements are still possible.
  • The News Feed has also been updated with a readability score. If there are still news items online with a gray dot, they are from before our last update. These can still be optimized. Please note that the SEO fields are mandatory fields. From now on, these must always be completed. After all, it is better for the findability of your message!
  • The Canonical URL: This addition probably needs a little more explanation.
This field is intended to prevent punishment by Google for 'duplicate content'. When you post the message on two sites, the field is automatically filled. Pay attention if it is a message that you have also placed on your own website. If you also want to place this on an FHI site with identical content, you must adjust the URL of the message on your website in this Canonical URL field.
