What is the impact of the energy transition on society in 2050?
In response to a request from the grid operators, research agencies Berenschot and Kalavasta have drawn up four scenarios for a climate-neutral energy supply in 2050. What does this look like and what does it mean for the energy grid?
These scenarios were sent to the House of Representatives by Minister Wiebes on 15 April. This is the first time that the impact of the energy transition on society is being examined.
The scenarios have been drawn up integrally and are therefore based on all regional, national, European and international developments in the field of energy. Based on this research, the consequences for the energy infrastructure will become clear. This will ultimately lead to an Integrated Infrastructure Exploration 2050. This research is a first step in this.
For energy managers, the results of this exploration are essential. Due to changes in the energy mix, the role of the energy network is becoming increasingly important. What choices do they have to make to make the energy infrastructure future-proof?
In a next phase, the grid operators will use these studies to determine what is needed to meet these four future scenarios. The future scenarios are here to view. If there is further elaboration from the government or the energy grid operators, we will inform you of this.
