Weiss Technik – Vindur TOP technology for a healthier climate without Covid-19.
'Ventilation system probably spread coronavirus in nursing home'

This headline appeared in the Dutch media. For most climate technology experts, this information is no real surprise. The most important question for everyone: what should be done to minimize the risk of viruses spreading through ventilation systems and therefore the risk of infection? Hygiene is one of the most important issues during this pandemic. Hospitals have always ensured that rooms are disinfected after being used by Covid-19 patients. But what about public transport, offices, shops, schools, restaurants or conference locations?
It seems that the 1.5 m rule and increase in the disinfection regime will not be enough. Although the coronavirus is believed to spread through larger respiratory droplets and through direct contact with contaminated surfaces and infected people, recent studies suggest it can also spread through small droplets in the air (so-called aerosols). Because they are so small, aerosols can remain in the air for long periods of time – especially in poorly ventilated areas – making airborne transmission possible.
This potential danger has been recognized by the RIVM, which has drawn up a so-called 'ventilation guideline' and has tightened it up. An effective ventilation system, supplemented with air disinfection and particle filtration, can help reduce the overall indoor infection risk from airborne particles. Purifying the air aims to reduce the risk of airborne viral transmission by reducing the time during which people are exposed to viral aerosols in this air, and by reducing the chance of these aerosols settling on surfaces. There is evidence that viruses (including Covid-19) can survive on some surfaces for at least 72 hours, so any action to limit surface contamination is helpful.
Since the Covid-19 crisis may not be the last time we face a pandemic, perhaps we should view it as an opportunity to make lasting changes to improve overall health and well-being at work. Hygienic ventilation and air conditioning systems are an important aspect of this. If air conditioning systems are poorly designed or not properly maintained, they can quickly turn into transmitters of germs. In addition, the so-called circulation rate in many public and office buildings is significantly lower than in medical environments due to energy costs, meaning that air flow is limited and the risk of infection is higher.
As a technology supplier, Weiss Technik develops solutions to prevent the growth and spread of bacteria, fungi and viruses in air conditioning systems. The new innovative air conditioning system Vindur® Top has been developed for use in hospitals, departments and examination rooms, but also for public and industrial buildings, whether universities, schools, daycare centers, hotels or office buildings, wherever hygiene is important.
This newly developed Vindur® Top technology effectively prevents the growth and circulation of micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses in the air conditioning.
The Vindur® Top technology consists of a ''4-Step Safety Concept'', being:
Viruses, germs and bacteria spread easily, especially in rooms with high occupancy, whether they are hospital rooms, trains or offices. Efficient ventilation not only reduces the number of infections, but also improves air quality, staff well-being and ultimately productivity.
