The Journey to Asset Performance Management

Honeywell's Asset Performance Management system (APM) is the market standard solution for real-time monitoring of industrial processes and equipment health. A few years ago, Shell selected this application to replace its in-house legacy Smart Connect application. Smart Connect had been used for many years within Shell to monitor all its rotating equipment within the asset. Over the years, the tools and related models used for equipment monitoring were optimized. To prepare the migration towards APM from Honeywell, we worked together for many months to lift and shift these models from Smart Connect into APM. After successfully completing the pilot, we prepared all the assets for the global migration.

In addition to APM, we also use PI Vision from Aveva as the front-end for the end user. PI Vision is familiar to the users and the remote monitoring surveillance team. Now they have a single point of entry for all process data and APM specifically for rotating equipment. With this delivery, the front-end of PI Vision and APM work well together.
