Cluster Electronics Manufacturing Services

The EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) cluster comprises a group of companies that produce electronics. FHI organizes quarterly meetings for this group focusing on current topics. The goal of these meetings is to discuss socio-economic issues, raise concerns, learn from each other, and jointly develop new insights and solutions.

Members of this group also speak to each other regularly during fairs and events. Everyone's opinion and knowledge is important and that is why we would like to invite you to participate in our expert group!

Featured: The Component Database

In 2022, the members of the EMS expertise group conceived and developed the component database: XS Parts. Through this online platform, group members can buy or sell small and large quantities of components.

Components are usually purchased in full “reels”, often in hundreds or thousands, while in practice the buyer needs a smaller number. During a brainstorming session, the idea arose to make the remaining components available to each other via a database. This way you deal with your stocks efficiently and you support colleagues who may need that one component. The online transaction takes place directly between buyer and seller, so without an intermediary.

Review of past cluster meetings

February 4, 2026
On February 4, the cluster met at component distributor and manufacturer Würth Elektronik in Son. During the cluster meeting, the members discussed market developments, the component database, the Academy, and Young Professionals within the EMS sector, among other topics.

In addition, Würth Elektronik gave a presentation on environmental legislation. The lecture by Geert Willems (IMEC) provided further depth, with concrete insights into electronics production and the ever-changing and increasing laws and regulations.

The afternoon concluded with a visit to the EMI debugging lab and, of course, the networking drinks. Thanks to Würth Elektronik for the hospitality!

October 8, 2025
For this cluster meeting, we, along with 25 companies from the EMS cluster, were guests at Matas Electronics.

During the meeting, we discussed, among other things, electronics education, market developments, and the component database. We concluded with a presentation by Matas Electronics, a tour, and drinks.

It is great to see that the companies are talking openly with each other about market developments, collaborating, and sharing knowledge about machines and automation.

Thank you Guido Bergman, Toine van den Oetelaar, Titian Bogaerts, and the entire Matas Electronics team for the warm welcome and excellent care!
