TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) introduces the HWS3000GT4, an addition to the 3000 W TDK-Lambda HWS3000 series of programmable AC/DC power supplies. This new model is available with a wide 3-phase input voltage range of 340 – 528 VAC and offers engineers greater flexibility during installation. The power supply features improved compatibility with global industrial power systems and is more resistant to interference in electrically demanding environments. The nominal output voltages and output currents remain fully programmable (CV/CC) from zero to their maximum values, enabling precise control and rapid system integration in a wide range of industrial applications.

Output programming can be realized via a serial RS485 interface (Modbus protocol) or analog 1-5 V or 4-20 mA signals. This allows for easy connection to PLCs, automation systems, and test equipment. The very compact power supplies feature a variable-speed fan that produces 45 dB of noise at less than 70% of the maximum load and an ambient temperature of 25 °C. The power supplies from the HWS3000 series can be used in a wide range of applications, including testing and measurement, semiconductor manufacturing, RF amplifiers, laser processing, printers, and industrial equipment.

The HWS3000GT4 delivers 3000 W at a 3-phase input voltage of 340–528 VAC. Six nominal output voltages (24 V, 48 V, 60 V, 80 V, 130 V, and 250 V) can be programmed. The power supply is housed in a compact enclosure of 270 x 150 x 61 mm (W x H x D). The ability to connect up to three units in series or up to ten units in parallel provides scalable solutions for higher voltages or currents. The digitally programmable output voltage swing speed and monitoring of total operating time, logged faults, and product identification, among other things, improve system control and diagnostics. Notably, the power supply does not need to be switched on for digital programming, which increases safety and makes setup more efficient.

The power supplies are equipped as standard with 5 V/2 A standby voltage, remote on/off, remote sense, and signaling of fan fault and power good. With an efficiency of up to 93%, little internal heat is produced, enabling reliable operation in the compact housing. The HWS3000 versions can operate at ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +70 °C (start-up is possible from -40 °C). From 50 °C to 70 °C, the achievable power decreases linearly to 50% of the maximum power (derating). A seven-year warranty period.* and relatively high specified temperatures for the electrolytic capacitors contribute to a long service life with reliable operation. The output terminals can be configured by the user for horizontal or vertical connections, offering additional flexibility for power supply installation.

Robust versions of the HWS3000 (with order option /HD) feature a double-sided PCB coating and are designed to meet MIL-STD-810G standards for shock and vibration in demanding environments. For models with the /RF order option, the airflow direction can be reversed to optimally align with the needs of the end system.

The insulation voltage between input and output is 3000 VAC; between input and earth it is 2000 VAC and between output and earth 1500 VAC. The leakage current is <0.85 mA and the maximum operating, transport and storage height is 5000m (2000m according to the IEC/EN62477-1 standard).

Safety certifications include IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and IEC/EN62477-1 (OVC III) with CE/UKCA marking for the Low Voltage, EMC, and RoHS directives. The power supplies comply with EN55032A, EN55011-A, and FCC-A for conducted and radiated emissions. The series also complies with EN 61000-3-2 for harmonics and IEC 61000-4 for immunity.
