TDK introduces robust 60 A and 80 A ORing modules with fast response and an efficiency of up to 99.5 %

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) introduces the TDK-Lambda i1R ORing FET modules, which can operate at 60 A or 80 A with a maximum input voltage of 60 VDC. These ORing modules are designed to replace traditional diodes in applications requiring ORing functionality for power supply redundancy or parallel operation. The i1R series utilizes MOSFET-based circuitry to deliver superior performance while simultaneously reducing backflow transients.
Applications for the i1R modules include communication, test, and measurement equipment, as well as industrial and robotics applications in demanding environments requiring a high degree of shock and vibration resistance. The i1R series is designed to complement other TDK-Lambda solutions, including the i7A and i7C non-isolated converters, the GQA and HQA industrial isolated DC-DC converters for conditions with high shocks and vibrations, and the RGF differential mode filter modules. Thanks to the flexible architecture, the modules in this series can also be deployed in combination with other power solutions.
The i1R series features a fast shutdown response of 500 ns (typical) and blocks backflow transients during fault conditions, providing better protection. The product has a typical low on-resistance of 2.5 and 1.5 mΩ, reducing power losses and residual heat and simplifying the thermal design. The footprint of the product's compact shielded metal housing is 26.3 x 26.3 mm, saving valuable space on the PCB and supporting efficient cooling. No additional external components are required for the operation of the modules, which simplifies the design.
