Successful API development often begins with investigating various reaction conditions. With parallel synthesis technology, multiple reactions can be performed simultaneously and process parameters can be compared efficiently. This provides faster insight into the optimal process conditions.

The next step is the controlled scaling up of the process. In this process, temperature, pressure, mixing, and heat transfer, among other parameters, must remain reproducible at every scale. Therefore, a reactor suitable for one development phase is not automatically the best solution for the next.

Modular reactor platforms offer a significant advantage here: they make it possible to adapt the reactor configuration as the process develops further.

Suurmond supplies solutions for this from BÜCHI and SYSTAG, among others. With SYSTAG FlexyCUBE, multiple reactions can be executed in parallel for rapid screening and process development. For further scaling up, BÜCHI reactor systems are available ranging from miniPilot and midiPilot to medium-scale pressure reactors.

Specialized reactor solutions are also available for high-pressure processes, such as hydrogenation. This allows processes to be investigated under increasingly representative conditions before the step to larger production scales is taken.

For applications where cGMP requirements and controlled production conditions play a role, suitable reactor configurations and clean-room options are also available.
