Baby milk is available in powder or liquid form. Regardless of the type, they all contain proteins, fats, carbohydrates and supplements. The most common process involves preparation of the mix, evaporation and drying. In each step of this process it is necessary to know and/or regulate the correct concentration and composition.

This is best done with an inline refractometer or brix meter that displays the measured value in Brix, DS (dry matter) or TDS (total dissolved matter). Being able to respond to these parameters at any time increases returns and guarantees the best product quality.

Of course, it is important that the analyzer meets strict hygienic standards. 3-A or EHEDG certificates are essential. In some cases, automatic cleaning with sterile steam may be necessary. No worries: the Vaisala K-PATENTS refractometers can be equipped with such a system.

Read the here application note on the use of refractometers in the production of baby milk.
