The Industrial Electronics sector welcomes two new clusters: the Software cluster and the IT Infra & Telecom cluster. The Software cluster was founded from the need of our members to pay more attention to (embedded) software, to strengthen each other and to share market developments. IT Infra & Telecom used to be two separate events that in practice had so much overlap in terms of topics and visitors that it made sense to join forces. Both new clusters recently came together to exchange knowledge and experiences and to make plans for the future.

Kick off Software cluster

On June 29th the kick off of the Software cluster took place. The role of software is becoming increasingly important, especially with the rise of the Internet of Things, and that is why this new cluster will focus entirely on programs and applications for industrial products. The members will meet four times a year to review market developments, discuss common themes and make agreements. During the meeting, a heated discussion arose about the challenges surrounding the chip and personnel shortage, standardization and legal aspects. The focus was on the awareness of the role that software plays in the product development process. Customers are often not or insufficiently aware of the share of software in the entire process. According to the cluster members, this needs to change.

The next meeting of the Software cluster will be hybrid on a date to be determined. For more information about the new cluster, please contact project manager Melvin Brink via: melvin.brink@fhi.nl.

IT Infra and Telecom: moving forward together

The IT Infra and Telecom events have been merged into one event in consultation with the exhibitors. In addition, a new cluster has been established with the same name. On 9 June, the cluster members of IT Infra & Telecom came together for the first time to get acquainted and to talk about the goal and activities of the new cluster.

It was an interesting meeting where important decisions were made. For example, it was decided to meet three times a year from now on to discuss joint themes and challenges. In addition, the cluster members want to organize a network meeting in Leusden every summer with a special guest speaker and a drink afterwards. The aim is to send a newsletter to interested parties four times a year to keep them informed of activities and news. The date for the first joint event has also been set: on December 1st you are most welcome at Congrescentrum 1931 in Den Bosch.
