Intel is investing $20 billion in new chip factories

- The RIVM reports 57,549 new positive corona tests on Friday, 17,591 more than on Thursday.
- Intel invests more than 20 billion dollars in the construction of two new chip factories in the US state of Ohio. The factories must start supplying chips from 2025. Intel also wants to invest in chip production in Europe and previously announced that it would make investments worth 95 billion dollars.
- The total value of agricultural exports last year is estimated at 104.7 billion euros. That's a record, like that reports CBS and 9 billion euros higher than 2020. Both export volume and prices increased last year and caused the increase.
- Although the national debts of the euro countries have fallen slightly, debts at the end of the third quarter of 2021 still remain very high compared to before the corona pandemic. That reports Eurostat. Total debt in the eurozone was equal to 97.9 percent of the size of the economy.
- The permit for the development of a lithium mine by mining company Rio Tinto has been withdrawn by Serbia, writes the FD. The extraction would have too much impact on the environment. Lithium is used in lithium ion batteries, a crucial component for, for example, the batteries of electric cars.
