In this presentation, Dylan Liu from Meanwell will talk about the new bi-directional power conversion platform for battery cell testing equipment along with other potential industrial and commercial applications. In addition, the following points will be discussed:
- Specifications and parameters that differ from generic AC-DC converters
- Digital communication interface for the integration of system configuration into applications
The recent increase in demand for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and energy storage to support power systems has increased the demand for lithium-ion batteries. This also has implications for the need for test equipment that performs charge and discharge cycles. To make the best use of the energy, a bi-directional power converter should be present in the system.
A bidirectional power supply used in a dual voltage (12V battery & 48V battery) architecture in a HEV or BEV connects the 12 and 48V systems. This allows each battery to be charged by the other battery and can provide extra power in case of overload, for example during starting.
