The start-up Labster has built a virtual reality platform together with Google that allows pupils and students to work in a biology laboratory using VR glasses. There are a total of 30 practicals. Labster is working to further expand its virtual teaching programs.

Practicals are important parts of training courses that involve working in a laboratory, but due to costs or availability, educational institutions are not always able to complete the entire program. With Labster, students can enter a virtual biology lab and complete practicals.

During the 3D practicals, 3D animations of various research equipment that can be found in a laboratory can be seen in the virtual environment. These devices, for example a microscope, can also be operated by the student. The available VR topics range from molecular biology to physiology.

Labster managed to raise $21 million from investors in April. The start-up wants to focus on other markets and also greatly expand the range of VR practicals and simulations.

Anyone who wants to gain lab experience can also contact the workshop Laboratory Technology for Dummies on Tuesday, November 5.
