To reduce production costs and optimize luminaire designs, manufacturers are increasingly opting to connect COB LEDs in series. By connecting multiple COB LEDs in series within a single luminaire, or multiple luminaires to each other, savings are made on the number of drivers required. This simplifies driver selection, reduces system costs, and contributes to a cost-efficient overall design.

Citizen is responding to this with an expansion of the 18V COB portfolio. In addition to the compact 13.5 × 13.5 mm low-voltage COBs, the efficient 18V technology is now also available in a larger 19 × 19 mm package: the new CLU03Q-0612E1 series.

Within the High Intensity family, consisting of COBs with LES diameters < 4.2 mm, Citizen also offers variants in 3.2V, 9.4V, 11.9V, and 21.3V, so that more voltage options are available in that segment as well.

With this expansion, luminaire designers can choose from standard COBs with LES diameters of 6 mm, 9.7 mm, and 14.5 mm, which are easy to apply in series. This increases design freedom and enables a more efficient system configuration.

For decorative and atmospheric applications, an extra warm 2200K variant is also available.
