The new name of the trade fair gadget, an interactive coaster that lights up with movement, has been announced. After a poll on LinkedIn, 'HexaGlow' emerged as the winner. The first part of the name refers to the six-pointed shape of the gadget, also known as 'hexagon'. The English word 'glow' is a joke about the LED lights that turn on as soon as someone places a cup or glass on the coaster.

The gadget has been an important crowd puller for the fair for many years. There are even 'fans' who travel to Utrecht specifically to obtain a copy. The HexaGlow was designed exclusively for E&A and will only be awarded during this edition of the trade fair. Visitors can collect and assemble the parts themselves from the participating exhibitors. Not only is this fun to do, but it also creates a unique opportunity to gain insight into the technology behind the gadget.

Traditionally, the trade fair gadget is devised and developed by the exhibitors. Ideatron This year is the 'brain' behind the fun coaster and responsible for it design and development. Eurocircuits produces the prototypes and printed circuit boards. A1 Electronics mounts some of the PCBs before the start of the fair and the rest during the fair Live Production line. Sixteen exhibitors sponsor the project, making the gadgets free for visitors.

Please note: there are only 1500 copies available Register quickly for the fair for a chance to win the HexaGlow.
