Koch has expanded the DES series of modules for storing and returning braking energy from, for example, frequency converters and motor controllers with a heavier version.
The DES3.0 has a factor 1.5 more energy storage than the DES2.0 due to heavier power electronics. Where the DES2.0 can store approximately 800Ws, the DES3.0 already goes up to 1200Ws.
The self-learning DES modules can be expanded with EM modules to achieve even higher capacities and are optimally used for short cyclic movements. The cycle times are drastically reduced, the lifespan of the controller increases and there is a saving on energy costs and CO2 emissions.
In addition to the DES, there is also a DEV module that functions as a UPS to allow a controller to be used briefly after a power failure to send the machine to a safe position or to prevent production losses.
