The CareHub is a smart care call and monitoring system developed by CLB, combining its own hardware and software. For the plastic housing, CLB collaborates with Metric Injection Moulding Solutions, while the industrial design is provided by SonicDesign.

The housing not only protects the electronics but also plays an active role in the acoustic operation and control of the device.

A characteristic element is the deadfront: a front foil with a calm, uniform appearance, where functions, buttons, and status indicators only become visible when activated. This requires precise integration of foil, housing, electronics, and controls.

The CareHub can be used as both a wall-mounted and desktop unit in hospitals, care institutions, and home care. This places specific demands on the materials used. In addition to good injection moldability, durability, UV resistance, and impact resistance are important properties. The housing must withstand intensive and prolonged use in diverse environments.

The acoustic monitoring function also has direct consequences for the design. For reliable sound detection, the housing must be sufficiently open. This has been resolved with a floating lid, which creates the necessary open structure without compromising the protective function of the housing.

Moreover, the lid is part of the user interface. By designing it with a light hinge, the entire lid can function as a push button. In this way, injection molding technology, material selection, acoustics, and functionality come together in a single custom housing.
