Laboratory research is changing: more and more autonomous analysis robots are coming onto the market that process, interpret and send results to the end user without the intervention of laboratory personnel. Is the lab becoming a machine room with the laboratory technician as an operator in an office workplace? And how to deal with the continuous research innovations, which sometimes make laboratory buildings obsolete upon completion? What effects does this also have on the safety of employees and the environment? Dick Hoeneveld from TU Delft will address these questions during his presentations.
Society is also changing: the safety of employees, residents and the environment must be guaranteed and the outside world expects transparency. Every failure spreads rapidly via digital media. Applying only legal rules and responding to incidents is no longer sufficient.
For design parties, clients and users it is a challenge to oversee these developments and translate them into a future-oriented laboratory building. This lecture provides insight into that design process.
