Battery contacts and interface pins have some similarities in functionality: reliable, non-rigid contact on a small surface, with a low transition resistance between a PCB and a contact surface.
The PTR interface pins are widely used as battery contacts in mobile devices, printers, scanners and communications equipment. In many cases they are also used to connect 2 PCBs without having to apply force, which is the case with plug-in connectors.
