Hands-on science, scrum and business strategy: it was all covered by the 63 participants of the Young & Ambitious event in De Munt in Utrecht.

The kick-off was for Professor Robot. As a scientist at Mad Science, he and his colleagues provide challenging, interactive and educational lessons. Prof. During his session in De Munt, Robot showed, among other things, how you can play a didgeridoo with fire with some ethanol. He also managed, together with two assistants, to change a penny into a silver and gold color through ionization.

Edward Vernhout of Dev Republic delved into the world of scrum and agile, with an emphasis on the benefits of these methodologies for managers. An interesting starting point for the target group, because the scrum and agile methods are mainly known from the software world.

More value creation

According to Vernhout, companies that want to optimally develop a product or service can benefit from this method, because it creates more value for the customer. After all, he can see how a product is developed step by step. However, in the eyes of the scrum master, the method requires a paradigm change among managers, because from now on they have to think along in a group in which everyone has a more or less equal position.

Nowadays, companies outside the IT world are also working hard with scrum and agile. Vernhout gave Buurtzorg and Finext, among others, as concrete examples of companies in which this methodology is used.

Ron Eman from ISA training and coaching concluded with an overview of a number of leading theories about business strategy. Eman highlighted the developments of recent years and described, among other things, the various strategies and successful structures.

After the successful afternoon in De Munt, the young FHI members went on a tour of De Munt or enjoyed the closing drinks.
