YMIF Engineering takes energy hub Tholen to the next level with smart energy management

A revolutionary energy hub has been put into use on the Zeeland island of Tholen. This initiative, realised in collaboration with entrepreneurs from two industrial estates, marks an important step forward in the local energy transition. The parties involved, including Stedin, ON E Target, Firan and Scholt Energy, have set up an efficient local energy network that makes optimum use of the electricity grid. Ymif Engineering, as a leading company in the field of energy technology, is responsible for the control of this advanced system.

Innovative energy hub strengthens sustainability and network efficiency

The energy hub for the Slabbecoornpolder and Welgelegen business parks is a frontrunner in the Netherlands. The energy hub has a battery with 2 megawatt capacity and combines two important innovations:

  • Group capacity agreement: Companies share their power consumption, smoothing out peaks in demand and reducing the pressure on the electricity grid.
  • Collective energy storage: Excess solar energy is stored in batteries and fed back into the grid in times of scarcity.

Smart technology from Ymif Engineering

The success of the energy hub is based on the intelligent energy management system developed by YMIF Engineering. This system analyses, monitors and controls local energy flows, allowing the hub to function seamlessly and efficiently. This innovative approach shows how smart technology and collaboration can contribute to a more sustainable and efficient energy supply.

Benefits for participating companies

Initially, 31 companies will participate in the energy hub on Tholen. It offers the participating companies several advantages, including:

  • Lower energy costs
  • More stable energy supply
  • More space for sustainability
  • Possibility to jointly purchase and sell energy
