2:00 – 2:45 PM

A safe laboratory and sustainable working sometimes seem like different objectives, but in practice, they reinforce each other. In this workshop, we will guide you through the key considerations regarding laboratory safety, efficient energy use, and responsible management of laboratory facilities.

We discuss how a risk analysis forms the basis for a safe working environment, the role the positioning of the fume hood plays within the laboratory design, and how the correct use of ventilation contributes to both safety and energy savings. Additionally, we address the importance of validation, maintenance, and certification of fume hoods and ventilation systems.

We also address the safe storage of chemicals, the responsible processing of waste streams using fume hoods, and the most common errors we encounter in practice. Through practical examples, you will gain concrete insights and tools to successfully combine safety, sustainability, and efficiency within your laboratory.

This workshop will be given on Thursday, September 24 at 2:00 PM by Oebele van der Veen (Interfurn) and Marco Marcus (Vos Instrumenten).
