TECHNOLOGY THURSDAY
In the last two parts we have explained the different possibilities for the panel design. Already when designing the PCBs we have to keep in mind that the finished PCBs have to be separated from the panel. The panel separation happens either at the PCB manufacturer or after the components are mounted on the PCBs that are on a panel. It is important to know that there are two different types of depanelling. Individual boards are cut out of a panel using a router that goes along the contour of the board. Or, two sharp knives score the board from both sides (‘V-cut’) and then later snap out of the panel.
