Accurate, real-time junction temperature sensing is essential for the safe and reliable operation of power electronic devices. This lecture presents an in-situ optical temperature sensing approach that exploits the electroluminescence emitted by semiconductor junctions during operation. This method enables real-time monitoring with galvanic isolation between sensor and power stage, while offering immunity to EMI-supporting practical deployment in switched mode power converters.
