NBS Scientific has big news that it would like to share with the outside world: this year, NBS Scientific has become CO2 neutral. We congratulate NBS Scientific and hope that many will follow her. For FHI Tech Stories we speak with Marketing Director Sophie Deneer from NBS Scientific.

By: Hans Risseuw

Last year, NBS Scientific mapped its CO2 emissions worldwide and took measures to further reduce them in the coming years. The remaining CO2 emissions are compensated by planting trees.

NBS Scientific is a supplier of innovative, high-quality laboratory products with a focus on sustainability. NBS Scientific products can be divided into: sample collection, sample storage, sample processing, liquid processing and laboratory automation.

NBS Scientific aims to obtain ISO 14001 certification in 2023, in addition to the existing ISO 9001 certification. As a result, various environmental aspects in the organization are controlled and continuously improved.

Sustainability in the lab is a growing development within laboratory technology. “We see various initiatives emerging in the market,” says Sophie Deneer, “including the ACT label. This is the first environmental impact factor label for laboratory products and was developed by My Green Lab.” ACT, which stands for accountability, consistency and transparency, is designed to provide information about the environmental impact of laboratory products. This information can provide buyers with transparency when purchasing laboratory products.

NBS Scientific has been a member of FHI since 2012. They fall under the Laboratory Technology sector. According to NBS Scientific, the added value of membership at FHI lies in several areas. The combination of interesting statistical groups and workshops/trainings, information sessions on current topics, participation in trade fairs with member discounts and the general terms and conditions of delivery. The examples of service contracts that FHI makes available to its members also make membership worthwhile, according to Deneer. In addition, NBS Scientific is considering using the tender service.

Of the fairs and events that FHI organizes, NBS Scientific is a loyal visitor of LabAutomation and the WoTS. The company has also registered for the new LabNL trade fair.
