The 'Smart Industry' seminar will take place on Wednesday, September 29 during Electronics & Applications 2021. This meeting - which will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Croesefoyer in the Jaarbeurs - is all about improving efficiency within electronics production. What role does Smart Industry play in this and what are the actual challenges in this area?

By Frank van de Ven

Spread over half a day, five experts will speak about the latest developments and trends in their field. Smart Industry occupies a prominent place there. In this seminar, the speakers highlight the benefits of smarter, more efficient and more effective production. This can be achieved by linking production processes with ICT (machine to machine communication).

Looking for collaboration with multiple companies within the chain is a good way to be successful. But how do you ensure that your efforts pay off and that Smart Industry turns out to be an opportunity and not an illusion? In a seminar the speakers look for answers. There are five sessions to attend.

In his presentation 'The right choices at the right time' Steven van Hout from VDL tbp electronics discusses the decision-making process in more detail. When is it wise to act? And how can maintenance costs be minimized?

The lecture by Jan Van Lieshout from Smans and Anton van Limpt from Bestronics is called 'Smart Industry makes reshoring really work' and is about the opportunities that exist to bring production back from low-wage countries. This is done using practical examples.

Twan Aldenzee from Mycronic explains in his seminar 'Improve First Pass Yield: Prevent paste-related defects' how to increase the First Pass Yield within SMT production. This session will discuss, among other things, the foundation of the process and the importance of correctly applying solder paste.

One of the latest methods for smarter production is the integration of a high-speed fine pitch paste jetter in the SMD mounting machine. Tom Van Tongelen of Smd-Tec discusses this theme in his lecture 'Paste & Place: Process improvement and fast time to market through combination of paste jetting & component placement'.

William Baars from CN Rood closes the program. In his English session 'The Good, the Bad and the Dirty: Practical advice for data standardization across your test line' he elaborates on the impact of data when it comes to smart solutions. How do you ensure that you find the best software?
