7205ec Low-Profile PCI Express Serial Interface

04/09/2026

The 7205ec is a low-profile PCI Express serial interface with two configurable serial ports supporting RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485. Each port features an ultra-high-speed UART, flexible clock prescaler, and 256-byte Tx/Rx FIFOs, supporting standard and non-standard baud rates exceeding 1 Mbps.

Onboard DIP switches configure the electrical interface, echo suppression, and line termination, with Windows driver overrides available. The driver also supports software-selectable Slew Rate Limiting to minimize electromagnetic interference. Onboard LEDs indicate board status, interface selection, and line termination.

In RS-485 mode, hardware automatically enables the transmitter for Windows applications. RS-232 mode supports all modem control signals. SeaCOM drivers and utilities support Microsoft Windows and Linux. The 7205ec uses a PCI Express x1 interface, includes a standard-profile bracket, and is RoHS compliant under Directive 2011/65/EU.
