BME Formula Racing Team – Powered by Eurocircuits PCBs

Our team, the BME Formula Racing Team, was founded in 2007 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics with the aim of designing and building our own race cars as university students to compete in the Formula Student series. This is an international competition held worldwide where university and college teams are challenged in the design and construction of single-seater race cars, as well as in business and financial planning. Teams can compete in three categories: internal combustion, electric, and autonomous. The goal of the competition is to prepare students for their future careers, to help them recognize multiple solutions to problems, and to apply the knowledge gained at university in real-world scenarios.

Since 2022, we have been developing a vehicle that integrates both an electric powertrain and an autonomous driving system into a single car – a challenge that has taken our engineering work to the next level. For this reason, it is especially important for us to work with reliable and professionally committed partners during development. With the support of Eurocircuits, we are able to provide our vehicle with a technological foundation that brings us ever closer to the forefront of the international field.

As part of our collaboration, we use printed circuit boards (PCBs) manufactured by Eurocircuits in several critical components of the vehicle. One of the most important of these is the car’s central control unit, which manages all control functions of the electronic systems. Eurocircuits has also provided PCBs for the high-voltage battery’s Battery Management System (BMS), which monitors the voltage and temperature of the battery cells to ensure safe operation – a particularly crucial factor in such a high-performance race car.

Their support also extends to the dashboard and several custom-developed sensor electronic units. These developments play a key role in real-time vehicle monitoring and performance optimization.

We are currently preparing at full speed for the upcoming Hungarian and German Formula Student competitions taking place in July and August. We are grateful to have Eurocircuits as one of our partners and we are confident that our developments and the results of our partnership will shine through on the racetrack.
