Hyperloop UPV – Eurocircuits 2

Summer is approaching, and even though for most people that means the holidays are getting close, for us in Hyperloop UPV it’s the exact opposite. Our team is working harder than ever to get everything ready for the long-awaited fourth edition of the European Hyperloop Week (EHW), which will take place in Zürich during the month of July.

Throughout the edition, which began back in September, we have been working relentlessly to accomplish the goals that we set for ourselves. Innovation is always at the forefront of our minds, and to keep moving towards it we defined three main objectives for the season: implementing a pressurised cabin, an airlock and a highly revolutionary, much more potent motor.

Even if it seems like the airlock and pressurised cabin could be classified as primary mechanical goals and the motor as electromagnetic, the truth is that the key to our success lies in the multidisciplinary nature of our team. The joint effort of all of our different subsystems is what allows us to achieve our goals and grow as a team.

In such a project, as imaginable, electronic components are a must. Our Hardware and Firmware subsystems are in charge of designing and programming all the different PCBs that breathe life into our vehicle, and this is made possible thanks to our partnership with Eurocircuits.

With Eurocircuits, we have designed 6-layer PCBs that allow for the routing of more signals in one board. In our power boards, each layer contains 2 ounces of copper. This greatly improves the current carrying capability and thermal capacity of the boards, making it easier to cool them.

We have also designed boards with controlled track impedance, allowing us to use high-frequency protocols such as Ethernet. All the boards have a gold finish which prevents the pad from oxidizing, making the boards last longer. Additionally, it makes the pad’s surface much smoother, improving the heat transfer between our custom waterblocks and the power boards.

So far, our journey to this year’s EHW has been full of technical advancements and innovative designs, but it’s also been living proof of the power of collaboration in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Our team’s relentless dedication, coupled with the support of companies such as Eurocircuits has been our driving force, and we couldn’t be any more excited about what is coming.

Thank you for being part of our journey!
