Antimicrobial resistance: backgrounds and innovations in diagnostics

The use of antibiotics is a global norm. However, it is becoming increasingly common for bacteria to develop resistance to these drugs, rendering them ineffective. This makes treating infections more difficult, leading to illness, death, and higher healthcare costs. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the greatest global threats, with five million people dying each year, directly or indirectly, due to AMR. This number is expected to rise to ten million deaths per year by 2050. During the seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance, three experts will provide insights into the backgrounds and innovations in diagnostics. Learn more about the seminar or read the interview with Maarten van Dongen from AMR Insights.
