The Role: What You'll Do

As General Manager of Promega Benelux, you will have full responsibility for the business, commercially, strategically, and culturally. You are the entrepreneur running this company, with autonomy to make decisions, accountability to deliver results, and support from the global Promega organization.

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

You drive growth in the Benelux region by developing strategies that expand our market position and customer base. You identify market opportunities, understand customer needs, and monitor trends in Genomics, Proteomics, Cell Analysis, and Molecular Diagnostics.

Leading the Organization

Together with the local management team, you lead an organization of professionals. You create clarity about priorities, define how work gets done, and ensure ownership is distributed across the team. You develop people intentionally.

Shaping Culture

Culture happens because leaders model it every day. You lead with clarity, authenticity, and respect. You listen genuinely, communicate openly, and make decisions in a way people understand and support.

Management & Governance

You manage the business rigorously. You steer key performance indicators, own budget and costs, and report to shareholders. You ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in the Netherlands and Belgium.

External Representation

You represent Promega to customers, partners, distributors, and industry associations. You build relationships with decision-makers and participate in customer meetings and conferences. Travel is part of the role.

Who You Are

Experience: at least 10 years of relevant leadership experience in sales and marketing or business development in the life science industry. Where knowledge about drug development is a strong preference. You have led teams, steered commercial activities, developed markets and grown revenue and customer relationships.

Scientific Background: A degree in life sciences is essential. You hold a Master's or Doctoral degree (MSc or PhD), with hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or protein biochemistry.

Commercial & Entrepreneurial Strength: You have hands-on experience in sales management, market analysis, and customer development. You're comfortable with numbers and data. You set priorities clearly and deliver results.

Emotional & Social Intelligence: You lead with clarity and commitment. You listen to understand. You develop people intentionally and address difficult topics constructively.

Language & Digital Skills: Fluent Dutch and English, both written and spoken. You're comfortable with digital tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office. You actively use AI tools.

Knowledge of Law & Compliance: You understand corporate governance, business management, and budget steering. You understand the legal environment in both Netherlands and Belgium, including employment law and compliance.
