FHI Whitepaper on Energy transition

FHI Whitepaper on Energy transition Door: FHI, Federatie van Technologie Branches

FHI, federation of technology branches published a whitepaper about the energy transition. The paper offers an innovative view of the technical challenges and developments in the Netherlands and Belgium in the transition to sustainable energy.

The whitepaper describes the challenges of the energy transition, focusing on technological aspects. Topics such as nitrogen and CO2 emissions often evoke strong emotions, also in politics and the media. The white paper aims to shed light on the technical dimensions of the transition.

Together, the FHI members form a technical coalition with a lot of knowledge. This knowledge forms the basis of the white paper: based on concrete practical examples, we come to solutions to the challenges surrounding energy transition.

Energy system
In the first chapter, we explore different aspects of the energy system, such as energy sources, energy carriers, energy production, distribution and consumption. The white paper provides examples of technological developments and insights with specific focus on hydrogen, batteries, energy production and distribution networks. The examples come directly from real-life situations.

Join forces
Chapter 2 emphasizes the need to look at the energy transition together. FHI aims to make this technical expertise quickly accessible to support decision makers. It recommends appointing steering groups of experts to look at specific topics. These groups can use a model, developed by FHI, to do so. The model is still under development and is being worked out together with our members.

There is also an important role in this transition for the EMVT  - Power Electronics community. Members will also be invited to participate in working groups and share knowledge to solve technical challenges.
