The lack of young talent endangers Europe as an electronics hub
Eurocircuits N.V. – 6 september 2023
The outlook for the electronics industry in Europe is promising:
– Chip Act: grow from 9% to 20% of world volume of chips till 2030
– Electronics manufacturing growth of average 6-7% per year for the next 10 years
– Doubling the PCB production from 1.8B€ to at least 3.5B€ till 2030
But the number of first-year students in electrical engineering is declining. In addition, more engineers will retire in the next few years than will join them.
Eurocircuits CEO Dirk Stans speaks at the EMS-Tag of ELEKTRONIKPRAXIS why the industry and politics are urgently challenged.
